생명공학은 여러 학문(화학, 생물학, 화학공학, 유전학)의 통합 분야에 속하는 응용공학의 장이다. 생명공학에는 미생물을 포함한, 동식물의 세포 및 이들의 장기의 대사 기능뿐 아니라 기술적인 분석, 생산 및 변화 공정까지 포함한다. 생명 공학의 적용 범위는식품 분야뿐만 아니라 의약학 분야까지 확장된다. 실제 적용 과정에서 이와 같은 요구는 생명공학을 생물공학, 발효공학 및 의약생물공학과 같은 분야로 확대되고 있다.
본 학과는 독일 베를린공대(TUB) / 독일 에어랑엔대학(FAU)과 공동교과과정을 운영하고 있다.
세계화 및 정보화 시대에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있도록 폭넓은 교육의 장을 제공하고, 아울러 미래 산업인 생명공학분야에 우수한 전문 인력을 양성함으로써 국가 경쟁력 제고에 이바지하는 데 그 목적을 두고 있다.
Bio Engineering is an application engineering belonging to the integrated field of various disciplines such as chemistry, biology, chemistry engineering and genetics. Bio Engineering includes technical analysis, production and change processes as well as cells of animals and plants including micro organisms and metabolism of their organs. The application of Bio Engineering can be expanded to medical area as well as food and nutrients. In the actual application, such demand expands Bio Engineering to Bionics, Fermentation Technology and Medical Bio Engineering.
The dual degree master's program in Biotechnology at Dongseo University, Technical University of Berlin, and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen- Nuremberg was established with a curriculum to prepare students as world class Biotechnology professionals who will become competent members of the globalized and information-oriented society.
Biotechnology is an integrated field that encompasses various academic interests including chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, and genetics. It not only includes studies of living cells but also includes technical analysis, production and engineering processes. Biotechnology finds applications in food sciences as well as in pharmaceutical and medical sciences.
The purpose of this course is to provide the educational site to proactively respond to globalization and computerization, and to contribute to the improvement of national competitiveness by nurturing high quality professionals in Bio Engineering field.
