Entrepreneurship, innovation, and agile thinking are not just buzzwords—they are essential mindsets for the future. Today, I had the privilege of launching our "Shark Tank of Wellness" initiative for the fifth consecutive year with an incredibly dynamic and multicultural group of students from Vietnam, Colombia, Lithuania, Indonesia, and Malaysia at Dongseo University.
Through this project, students will bring the full force of Maker Energy to life, working in fast, iterative Scrum teams that mirror real-world Agile processes. They will move rapidly from the idea phase into the marketing phase, iteratively gathering feedback from peers, professors, and wellness experts around the world to refine their concepts and solve real-world challenges in the trillion-dollar wellness industry.
The "Shark Tank of Wellness" competition, organized by the Global Wellness Institute, offers university students the opportunity to pitch their most impactful wellness industry ideas through a written application and a two-minute video. The top three finalists will be flown to the annual Global Wellness Summit to present their ideas live to a panel of Wellness Sharks and compete for a share of $10,000.
Dongseo University already has a proud legacy, with student Doan Anh Duong winning in 2021. This year, we are more ambitious than ever: we aim to launch the most projects in our program’s history and showcase the incredible potential of our students on the global stage.
Facilitating students in collaborating across cultures, applying Scrum sprints to refine their ideas, and channeling real Maker Energy into wellness innovation reminds me: the future of wellness will be built by Gen Z.
