Graduate Program Information – Department of Visual Contents
Welcome to the Department of Visual Contents at Dongseo University. Our graduate school provides opportunities for advanced study and research across Animation, Film, and Visual Effects. The department offers MA, MFA, and Ph.D. degrees, and all courses are conducted in English.
Both Master’s and Doctoral programs aim to cultivate creative and convergent talents required by industries, universities, and research institutes worldwide.
1. Degree Tracks
Animation Track
Students in the Animation Track focus on both theoretical foundations and practical expertise, with emphasis on improving artistic and technical skills for future careers. The curriculum covers:
- Storytelling and concept art
- Animation and character setup
- 3D modeling and texturing
- Industry-related applications in games, films, and digital art
Film Track
Students in the Film Track study film theory alongside practical filmmaking skills. The program emphasizes cinema as an art form and as a medium that reflects spiritual values and human creativity. Students develop both artistic ingenuity and technical proficiency in film production and distribution.
Visual Effects Track
Students in the VFX Track gain expertise in compositing, VFX concepts, look development, and simulations. The program focuses on how VFX integrates with live-action film and cutting-edge digital technologies.
2. Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is structured around the three academic areas Animation, Film, and Visual Effects, with a combination of theory-based and skill-based courses.

- Convergence Knowledge Seminar (3 credits, multidisciplinary)
- Thesis Research (P/N)
- Research Ethics (P/N)
- Media Arts & Sciences (3 credits)

- Film: Film History Seminar, Motion Picture Language, Cinematography & Lighting, Cinema & Digital Image Aesthetics

- Convergent/Business: Digital Media Business, Communicating with New Technology, Design Thinking Start-Up Project
