Dongseo University’s Global Business Administration student Damia Batrisyia has been named a Global Finalist at the 2025 Global Wellness Summit’s “Shark Tank of Wellness” competition for her innovative concept, SeedSniff—a simple idea with a big mission: helping people detect harmful seed oils in everyday food and make informed choices for their health.
Guided by Professor Danny Kessler, SeedSniff represents the next wave of wellness devices, combining practical design with public health awareness to promote cleaner eating habits. The idea stands out for addressing an often-overlooked issue—toxic seed oils—and translating complex nutrition science into an accessible lifestyle tool.
The 2025 Global Wellness Summit will be held November 18–21 in Dubai, where Damia will present her concept live before academics, wellness leaders, investors, and innovators. Professor Kessler will accompany her to Dubai for the event. Her project was chosen from submissions worldwide for its creativity, feasibility, and alignment with the Summit’s vision of advancing human and planetary wellbeing.
SeedSniff’s pitch video captures its essence: a future where transparency meets technology, empowering everyone—from wellness enthusiasts to casual diners—to take control of what’s on their plate.
✨ “Let’s build a healthier future—one meal at a time.”
Professor Kessler, who leads Dongseo University’s Workplace Wellness Research Lab, noted that Damia’s selection demonstrates how wellness innovation can emerge from authentic curiosity and student-driven creativity. He also recalled that when he first taught Damia as a freshman, she already showed a remarkable talent for visual presentation and storytelling, skills that now help bring SeedSniff’s message to life: “Moments like this show that mentoring and harnessing student creativity truly pay off—not just in competitions, but in building the next generation of innovators.”
Damia’s achievement marks Dongseo University’s second global finalist placement in the Shark Tank of Wellness competition, reinforcing the university’s growing reputation for producing globally minded innovators who blend academic insight with real-world relevance.
