Everything you need to know to successfully complete your Graduation Project, Portfolio, and meet all requirements for graduation from the Animation program.

Portfolio & Project
You must complete both a Graduation Project and a Specialized Portfolio.
Minimum Pass Grade
Grade C
Grade C (70–79 pts) or above — all judges must agree

Definition
Graduation Project

Students choose one track to demonstrate professional-level output:

Animation Short Film: Create animated shorts for submission to International Festivals.

Industry-University Cooperation: Joint development under industry supervision for commercialization.

Research Thesis: Academic research published in quality journals such as SCI, Scopus, or KCI

Brand Project: A special purpose project designed to raise the status of the major.

Portfolio (Demo Reel)

A compilation of short clips showcasing your expertise in a specific area:

Concept Design: Focuses on life drawing, anatomy, and character turnaround sheets.

3D Modeling: Includes finished pieces with turntables, lighting, and polished renders.

Technical Animation: Pipeline and systems, complex biped/facial rigs, Python/API tools, and motion capture integration.

Animation: Demonstrates body mechanics, acting, and the 12 principles of animation.

Visual Effects: Covers digital compositing, dynamics, and VFX pipeline management.

How It Works — Process & Timeline
First Assessment (Preliminary)
A review of the development stage to prepare for the final evaluation. This does not affect the final score.
Final Assessment
The definitive evaluation of your portfolio and project work.
Submission Standards
Materials must meet specific video specs (H.264 codec) and PDF formats or they will not be judged.
Committee Review
Evaluated by at least three committee members, including professors or industry experts.

Mandatory Documentation & Rules
  • University Branding: All video works must include the Dongseo University Symbol Logo.
  • Portfolio Document Requirements: Must include a Portfolio Study, a Resume, and Job Research.
  • Festival Entry: Animation Short Film projects must include a Festival certificate of entry.
  • Copyright: Copyright belongs to the student, while the department holds neighboring rights.
