■ Overview

The management of human resources, or HR, plays a crucial role in ensuring that employees are healthy, secure, motivated, engaged, and productive in the workplace. On a daily basis, approximately 3 billion people around the world go to work, and over the course of their lives, the average person will spend around 90,000 hours on the job. As employees are a company's greatest asset, it is important for organizations to prioritize their well-being and development. The Workplace Wellness Research Society was created for students who want to learn more about how to build resilience to stress, develop grit, and excel in the business world. The advisory professor and members of the society meet weekly to share their knowledge and research on these topics.

As part of their research and learning experience, members of the Workplace Wellness Research Group had the opportunity to engage with various aspects of the wellness industry. This included attending the Green Life Show and meeting the CEO of Wellmi, Laura McLuckie Jeon, as well as participating in a special lecture on gait analysis from a wellness expert. The group also participated in the World Wellness Weekend event, which took place in September 2021. These experiences allowed the members of the research group to gain valuable insights and firsthand knowledge of the wellness industry.

In the fall of 2021, our student Doan Anh Duong won 3,000$ in the Shark Tank of Wellness at the Global Wellness Summit.  Her idea is the Immersion lamp. You can read more about it here, and her idea by following this link.

In the Workplace Wellness Research Society, students learn and share practical knowledge related to stress management, emotional intelligence, and peak performance, which are not taught as part of the regular curriculum.
