This course will introduce students to the English language program at Dongseo University. The course will build on the high level of English proficiency the students have by focusing on English for specific purposes. Through directed practice, students will become familiar with more advanced language. Real world opportunities will be provided to give students the chance to practice the language they have learnt. These opportunities will include; job/university interviews, group work, expos, videos and presentations. Students are expected to take an active role in their studies through classroom participation. The course is designed for students with an IELTS level of 5.5 or above. Students will take full advantage of the wealth of reading materials available in the IC office. Students will read two magazine articles and discuss the articles with their classmates. Throughout the semester the I.C. department will run various competitions, including cultural competitions and essay writing competitions. Students will be encouraged to enter these competitions and use their entries as assignments in this class.

An introduction to the design and operation of digital computers, including information representation, logic design, integrated circuits, register transfer description, hardware description languages, basic computer organization, and assembly-level programming.The relationship between software and hardware is highlighted.

This course covers the fundamental concepts and methodologies of software engineering. It emphasizes the main phases of the software lifecycle, such as requirements, design, implementation, testing, and project planning. Also, it puts importance on the difference between the software product and process. The course incorporates a class project.

The main purpose of this class is to guide the students as a team. This class will help the students understand better on the global era hence students can learn how to plan and prepare their future. Furthermore, students will be taught fundamental knowledge to be a global leader. To do this, this class pursues the teaching method to maximize the interaction between professor and students such as group discussion.

This course provides students with a comprehensive study of the C programming language.Classroom lectures underline the strengths of C, which provide programmers with the means of writing efficient, maintainable, and portable code.The lectures are supplemented with non-trivial lab exercises.The course deals with data types, structural programming, functions, array, struct, enum, typedef, character strings, pointers, bit operations, and file I/o.

Linear algebra has a broad application to the mathematical and natural sciences, to engineering, to computer science, and to management and the social sciences.
The goal of the course is to achieve a balance aiming towards the computational skills, theory, and applications of linear algebra.The course covers systems of linear equations, matrix algebra, determinants, diagonalization, vector geometry, vector space, orthogonality, linear transformations, and inner product spaces.

Entrepreneurs require a foundation in several key areas in order to be successful.This course will focus on multiple topics including: benefits/drawbacks of entrepreneurship, concept of new ventures, avoiding common mistakes, strategic management, forms of business ownership & franchising, pricing strategies, financing, location selection, and human capital management.

Students will learn advanced techniques regarding structure, pointers and dynamic memory allocation with a focus on C language among other programming languages.

This course provides students with a comprehensive study of the HTML and JavaScript language. HTML and JavaScript are the basic languages for developing Web applications and Mobile-Webs. Several application projects will be performed throughout this class including interactive Web, Mobile-Web applications.

The goal of the course is to introduce discrete mathematics and its computer science applications to have an adequate set of mathematical tools for problem solving in advanced courses.The course covers logic, sets, relations, functions, graphs, trees, combinatorics, and Boolean algebra.

Students will grow future entrepreneurial spirit by enhancing challenging spirits and creativity capacity through software convergence and learn theories as well as skills required for startups.

Students will discuss basic data structure which is a basic part of programming and will therefore acquire an ability of designing and analyzing efficient algorithms.

This course provides students with a comprehensive study of the JAVA language. Several important concepts of modern programming, such as object-oriented programming will be covered in this class. The basic concepts of classes, objects, methods, inheritance, and capsulizing will also be introduced. Several small projects using JAVA language will be performed throughout the class.

This course forms a strong foundation in the understanding and design of modern computing systems.Building on a computer organization base, this course explores techniques that go into designing a modern microprocessor. Fundamental understanding of computer architecture is key, not only for students interested in hardware and processor design, but a foundation for students interested in compilers, operating systems, and high performance programming.Major objectives of this course are as follow: - Identify the elements of modern instructions sets and explain their impact on processor design; - Identify and explain the function of basic elements of a modern processor; - Explain the function of each element of a memory hierarchy; - Identify and compare different methods for computer I/o; - Compare simple computer architectures and organizations based on established performance metrics.

This course will provide an introduction to operating system design and implementation. The operating system provides a well-known, convenient, and efficient interface between user programs and the bare hardware of the computer on which they run. The operating system is responsible for allowing resources (e.g., disks, networks, and processors) to be shared, providing common services needed by many different programs (e.g., file service, the ability to start or stop processes, and access to the printer), and protecting individual programs from one another. In the course, particular emphasis will be given to three major OS subsystems: process management (processes, threads, CPU scheduling, synchronization, and deadlock), memory management(segmentation, paging, swapping), file systems, and operating system support for distributed systems.

Computer networks are a key part of the information economy. This course introduces the fundamental problems of computer networking, from sending bits over wires to running distributed applications. For each problem, we explore the design strategies that have proven valuable in practice. Topics include error detection and correction, multiple-access, bandwidth allocation, routing, internetworking, reliability, quality of service, naming, content delivery, and security. As we cover these topics, you will learn how the internals of the Internet work to support the Web and other networked applications. You will develop a detailed understanding of widely-used networking technologies, such as TCP/IP, HTTP, 802.11, Ethernet, and DNS.

This course covers the theory and technology of database architecture and database management systems, as part of the trends of client/server architecture and large databases. It also covers principles and methodologies of database techniques for database application development,including stored procedures.

This course aims to apply overall knowledge related to computer engineering and complete either a project development or writing up a thesis under the instruction of an academic advisor. Students will perform analysis / designing / programming / testing / implementation / documentation, which are the basic tasks to perform a project, and acquire techniques of collaborative research through team projects.

This course introduces students to the basic knowledge of artificial intelligence topics including knowledge representation, problem solving, reasoning, uncertainty, perception, and learning methods. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to develop intelligent systems by assembling solutions to concrete computational problems; understand the role of knowledge representation, problem solving, and learning in intelligent-system engineering; and appreciate the role of problem solving, vision, and language in understanding human intelligence from a computational perspective.

The course will provide practical communicative experience by stimulating real life situations for the students to use English. Students will take part in activities that will improve their English and allow them to communicate in English at an academic level. Each of these activities will develop a section of their English ability. Students will incorporate all four language skills in their work. Students will also reflect and critique their classmates English and offer constructive feedback. Students are expected to take an active role in their studies through classroom participation. This course aims to develop students’ professional skills in related area. There are two options to get Pass on this course – either by taking internship (with required number of hours) in a company or organization related to a student’s major or by doing special study or lab research throughout the semester. In first case, internship should be taken before registering for the Field Studies course (i.e., in summer or winter vacation) and then appropriate reports and documents should be presented in the following semester. Otherwise students will have to participate in professor’s lab work (take a part in some project) or do another assignment or study which will enhance their professional skills in related major.

This course is an introduction to the theoretical foundations of computer science. These form the basis for a more complete understanding of the proficiency in computer science. At the conclusion of this course the successful (passing) students will be able to : -Understand the characteristics and methods of computer and component parts operation: -Describe, explain and use various different methods of representing data for use in computer systems: -Comment critically on ethical issues arising from the use of computer solutions.

Calculus is the study of the things change, It provides a framework for modeling system in which there is a change, and a way to deduce the predictions of such models. Topics include an overview of derivatives, integrals and their applications. Exponentials, polar coordinates and complex numbers are also covered in this course. The goal of the course is to understand the properties of functions, and how they can be used to describe and predict the behavior of various physical systems.

In order to prepare students to learn programing, this course will start with algorithms and pseudocodes and further will be followed by programing in MATLAB. MATLAB is a powerful programing language and at the same time is easy to learn due to it resemblance with normal human language while building lines of code. This programing language has a wide range of application areas : from natural to liberal arts sciences. It is widely used by computer science engineers for various purposes- from calculations, producing scientific and engineering graphics, building graphical user interface to problems with huge data analysis, exploration and visualization.

The basic of design elements and creating a cohesive visual brand will be covered in this course. Students will improve their networking and interview skills; create a portfolio.
